Appliances today aren't built to last. It's not (just) because of where they're made, or the amount of bells and whistles. It's a conscious decision by designers and manufacturers to force more frequent replacement of cheaper appliances. At this point, even many premium brands are regularly manufacturing appliances that won't clear a decade of use.
At Turquoise Sky, we use a model called The 3035 System which ensures that your appliances are built to last 25 years, and has 12-year comprehensive parts and labour warranty to prove it. For reference, most other premium brands consider it a special offer to give 5 years.
The old way to make a durable appliance was beefy metal and simple mechanics. We do build our appliances heavier and sturdier than competing brands, but we don't need to dumb down our design to make a durable machine. We combine intelligent high-tech features, strong basic design principles, and unmatched build quality in every one of our machines.
"Designed in Germany". "Assembled in the United States". In the appliance industry, these are the common lines used to instill faith in products' craftsmanship, even if 90% of the manufacture was done overseas on the cheap. At Turquoise Sky, we don't need caveats about where we get our parts, or where our factories are. Our steel comes from Hamilton, our circuit boards from Toronto, and every possible component and part is made in-house at our Southwest Ontario manufacturing facilities.
Even our dealers and distributors are Canadian - we only work with Canada-based independent or cooperative retailers. Smaller chains like Goemans, TA Appliance; independents like Elmira Home Comfort; even non-profits like Habitat For Humanity Re-Store. These distributors help make sure that every part of our supply chain is local, from materials to manufacture all the way to sales.
